Ted Kennedy passed away this last week and my sympathy goes out to his family. Do I think he was a great man? No this is a guy who killed a young woman and got away with it because of his name. He was thrown out of Harvard, which is hard enough to do but being a Kennedy and being thrown out?
I read an article about what a moral man he was. Based on his history I would have to disagree. But I am not the judge and jury and he has already had to answer to a higher power.
But on his deathbed he urged for a swift interim replacement, while state politicians vie for the first open Senate seat in a quarter century.
The Dem’s are trying to get Vicki Kennedy Teds wife to fill his seat. “She’s expressed to me her own sort of reluctance to do that, but she could change her mind,” Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said on CNN’s State of the Union.
The late senator’s nephew, former congressman Joseph P. Kennedy, could be a strong contender, says David Paleologos, director of Suffolk University’s political research center. Out of politics since personal problems caused him to bow out of a 1998 governor’s race, the younger Kennedy now heads Citizens Energy, a Boston based company that helps low income homeowners with heating bills. He scored a 67% favorability rating in a Suffolk University poll of state voters in March.
Why should any personal issues get in the way for another Kennedy to win an election?
I would like to know what the heck these people in MA drink that they keep voting Kennedy’s in office. The Kennedy’s have owned that seat since 1952.
If that is not a reason for term limitations nothing is.
Here is a little secret:
Secretary of State William Galvin said last week the law requires a special election no later than Jan. 25. That means primary elections sometime between Dec. 8 and Dec. 19. Under current law, Kennedy’s seat will remain vacant until then.
So as the Democrats say the heck with the law. I say we ask that the seat be filled now until the election. Why? Because that would give Senate Democrats the 60 votes they may need to ensure passage later this year of a health care bill — legislation that Kennedy once called “the cause of my life
Now keep in mind that when Mitt Romney was running for President and the law was that the Governor (them Mitt Romney) could replace the vacant seat. But the Democrats didn’t like that law so they had it changed. Now they want to change their own law because there is now a Democrat Governor who can fill the seat with a democrat and give them the 60 voters they need to pass the health care bill.
Why can’t the average person see the insanity of these democrats?
