Luigi’s thoughts on the campaign so far
(by Luigi Luciano - September 19, 2008)
The campaign season is now in full swing. This feels like the longest election season that I can recall.
Now that the conventions are over, the candidates are out in full swing trying to get their message across about how they will change the direction of the country.
You probably know that I am a Republican. But what you may not know is that I have voted for a Democrat in the past when I though that a person was better suited for the job no matter of the party they belonged to.
With this election I am no fan of either one of the Presidential candidates. I do like Sarah Palin. I had read about her even before I knew anything about McCain choosing her as his running mate.
The thing is John McCain does not excite me. But the one thing you have in McCain is you know where he stands. Yes like all politicians they say one thing at times and then say the opposite. The difference I see is that when a politician says one thing at some point and then switches that position down the road for the right reason it is OK. We could all look back and at something that happened in our lives or in the world and say it could have been done differently based on the outcome that we now know. Such is the case with drilling for oil. McCain was against it then he changed his mind based on current conditions not only political moves. Granted sometimes the motives are for political reasons but when more than 70% of Americans want us to drill how can a person that is suppose to work for the American people not try to do what his bosses want? He is still against ANWAR in Alaska which I hope he changes his mind on, but with oil prices on the rise and no alternatives available yet drilling is not so bad.
McCain has the experience by far over Obama. Obama has served something like 143 days in the Senate and of those days he spent most for them running for President.
Forget all the internet info you read and see saying things like he is the Anti-Christ and stuff like that. That is all fluff stuff. Let’s get to the facts about this man. If I hear one more time that he will make history by becoming the first African American president I will scream. He will make history if elected but only because he is HALF African American not 100%. By his own word from his book From Dreams of My Father: he said 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites...News flash you are half white.
Any intelligent person has to see through this guy. I say that seriously not in a condescending way. This man Obama is a fake. He has no experience to change anything. He would have to bring in the same old cronies from the Democratic Party to his cabinet to run the country. He and his wife run around thinking they are the Kennedy’s of this century. His wife who was never proud of America till this year, wants to be the next Jackie Kennedy. It will never happen. That was in the past. Obama himself thinks he is some sort of god. He makes claims by his own words that the light will shine down and the seas will rise when he is elected. This is a man that you want as president?
I even asked a real liberal friend of mine since he is going to vote for Obama does he know he will pay more out of his pocket to fund all the projects that Obama wants to start. His answer was yes I know I will pay more but I cannot vote for Tina Fey! First off Palin is not running for President and if she was I feel she would be the breath of fresh air we need not Obama.
Does Obama really have the experience to change this country?
Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not much. From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days -- I keep leftovers in my freezer longer than that.
In contrast, John McCain's 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever. At 71, John McCain may just be hitting his stride.
With Obama the liberal media is turning a blind eye to fact about him that could damage his chances of winning even at the risk of hurting this country.
There has been much talk about Obama and his Muslin or lack of Muslim back round. People are afraid to bring that up. Well I for one think it is an important issue given today political climate and war on terror.
I saw the emails with all the quotes that he was said to have said. I checked them all out and some were accurate and some were false. So I do not blindly read them all and assume they are accurate.
But what is accurate is that Obama lacks the experience to run this country. He is young and has no experience in running government.
I really don’t care what the Democrats are saying about Sarah Palin and her experience she is not running for President. I know they say she is only a heart beat away but Obama if elected will be the heartbeat and he has less experience that she does. A Governor has had to make huge decisions for an entire state.
The bottom line here that I find more Liberals vote with the party because they are party people not issue people. They could care less what will happen to the country or what their candidate will do as long as their party wins. The proof is in how they debate. I would say based on what I read I really feel that Obama has no real plan to help this country. A liberal’s response: Bush is an idiot.
Intelligent voters are they? Not!
