Finding Jesus just ain’t what it used to be

(by Luigi Luciano - September 06, 2007)
What I find really funny is the people that all of the sudden find Jesus. I am not talking about sincere people who go through difficult times and after searching truly find peace in Jesus.  I am talking about the people who do bad things then all the sudden find Jesus like they have been looking for him for years.

Michael Vic the now infamous dog fighting guru said “We all make mistakes,” “Dog fighting is a terrible thing and I reject it ... I found Jesus and turned my life over to God. I think that’s the right thing to do as of right now.”

He found Jesus just one day after pleading guilty? I would venture to say that Vic was not looking for him in all the right places if he had to find him after his bout with drowning and killing dogs and not before.

It reminds me of the song looking for love in all the wrong places… Vic must have been looking for Jesus in all the wrong places.

People like Vic make a mockery of the people who really do find Jesus and the peace that comes with searching.

In his case, as in others, they use Jesus as an excuse and expect people to buy into the fact they have changed.

He has not changed. The only thing that changed for him will be his address for a short period of time.

This was one of the fastest findings I have heard of. In most cases it takes people a long time to find Jesus.  In fact it took Paris Hilton a few days in jail to find him. Not Michael Vic he must have left that hearing and searched high and low all day and night.

But a better theory is that he was told that he better find Jesus if he wants a lighter sentence. Sounding apologetic and remorseful will help his appearance when he stands before the judge in a few months for his sentencing.

It is sad when people have to resort to saying they found religion when they are in trouble. They think this will make gain sympathy from the public. The strange thing is everyone seems to find Jesus. No one finds Mohammad or Buddah . The only one they ever find is Jesus. Are the others in hiding? Are they in the witness protection program? I’m not sure but it seems that Jesus just can’t hide as good as the others.

Michael Vic’s problem is Michael Vic. He has a talent in football but could not separate from the friends and family who have not been a good influence on him. Many famous people have their entourages with them while they pay for everything. It is like having to pay people to be your friend. These people were obviously  not a good influence on Vic throughout his life or they would have never allowed him to be in this position. In fact if it were not for his cousin and the drug problem the police would have never have had a reason to search his house and find the animals. He thought that they (being good friends) would take the heat for him. Instead they started singing like Madonna on steroids. Just goes to show you all the money you spend on friends just isn’t worth what it used to;  they will sell you out.

Vic is solely responsible for his actions. All the friends in the world can tell him to do something but he decided what is right or wrong. This time he chose wrong.

This man signed a 130 million-dollar contract to play a game. He had endorsements worth millions more. Why would he get involved with such a horrible illegal business? It wasn’t greed he has enough money. It was just stupidity.

Should this man go to jail for a long time? I don’t think so. I think he should be fined and either do some community service like working with animal shelters. He should pay a hefty fine that can be used to help animals as well.

What should happen is he should lose his contract from football and be banned from the sport all together. That is more hurtful to this animal than going to jail.

The way it will probably go is that he will serve his time. He will get out and still be young enough to play. Some football team will pick him up and pay him a nice salary . The fans will forget if he leads a team to a successful season. That is why banning him from the game he loves is the best punishment he can receive.

Mr. Vic you might have said you found Jesus and if you did that is great and more power to you. But only time will tell if your actions prove that true or not.

Vic can say all he wants to get out of a situation and may even lie to get what he wants but in the end he will have to answer to the Guy that he said he found or he will be lost forever.
