Hooray for global warming and voluntary extinction!

(by Luigi Luciano - July 25, 2007)

Picture this: A beautiful January day. The sun is shining there isn’t a cloud in the sky. Bright blue skies the likes that you have never seen. The temperatures are in the low 70’s. People are out gardening and running. Is this Florida? No it’s New Jersey. Doesn’t that sound great? The only issue is if Al Gore (the inventor of the internet) and people like him have their way that will never happen. After all humans have worked so hard to cause global warming by creating cars that pollute, raising a lot of cattle that pollutes the air and so many other things. We have had a hard time as well over the many millions of years in heating up the earth.

Some facts that we humans had to battle in order to warm up the earth.

 *  There were about 11 different ice ages.

 * The ice ages were during the earth's 4.6 billion years of history.

 * The last ice age was called "The Great Ice Age" and was 11,000 years ago.

 * During the "Great Ice Age" over a third of the earth was covered in ice.

 * Right now we are living in a mini ice age.

There are two explanations of why the ice ages might have occurred: 1.The temperatures were much colder so it never rained, only snowed. 2. The earth changed its tilt away from the sun.

So in spite of our efforts to warm up the earth nature had a way of defying what we do to take care of herself.

Today according to Al Gore and some other people we have caused global warming.

Now there could be a downside to global warming such as the melting of the glaciers that will cause flooding and the inevitable loss of life. But according to one lunatic group that might be OK. The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, whose Web site calls on people to stop having children altogether might be happy about that loss of life. The theory here is that if all humans were gone from earth it would go back to the way it was.

How stupid are these people? I say these people go back in their caves so I can go back to dreaming about 70 degree weather in January.

The funny part of this all is that people really believe the people like Al Gore (did I mention he invented the internet?) and take their word as gospel. These people, like good old Al, are telling us what we need to do in order to save the world from burning up (while he is flying around in his private jets burning more fuel in one trip than most American would do in a year). Judging by the size of big Al he also needs to slow down on the eating that will help with lowering the amount of human waste we produce.

His idea of putting together a music venue all around the world to promote global warming really helped the cause a lot. Besides the fact that it was a huge flop it was the cause of much more pollution than we would have had that day.

According to an article on www.dailymail.co.uk of England a Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tons of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army. The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tons of carbon emissions. Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tons. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tons in a year.

All these people who have money have ideas on how we the little people can save the earth while they fly around in private jets and live in 50,000 square foot homes.

I have no problem with them living in a large home or using private jets just stop telling me how to live if you are not going to do the same.

I also don’t want to hear the crap about them buying carbon offsets to balance it out. This is the biggest scam since being able to buy a star and name it. Looking at the sky and finding a star you bought is about as creative a marketing idea as the pet rock.

Did you know that Kimberly Clark the makers of many toilet paper products unveiled an automated toilet paper dispenser?  The company believes most people will be satisfied with five sheets — and use 20 percent less toilet paper. “Most people will take the amount given.” I think it is a great idea no more pulling the paper and risking getting hurt. I don’t know about yours, but some toilets have a difficult angle to how the current dispenser is placed. How many times do you keep pulling more paper only to have it keep breaking off in small pieces? That is why so many people end up walking out of the bathroom with the paper stuck to their shoes. 5 sheets though could be really tough after a day at White Castle. But I guess that is better than Cheryl Crow who wants us to use only 2 sheets. Hopefully there are no alarms that go off if you use more than 5 sheets or I’d be in trouble.

My point here is that man has caused some issues with global warming but is not the total cause of it and will not cause the earth to melt. The Earth has been here a lot longer than we have and will be here for many more years if that is what is meant to be. We don’t know what happened to other planets. Was there life there at one time? Is there still life somewhere out there? The earth goes through cycles history has proven that.

In a report from July 5 of this year scientists who probed 1.2 miles through a Greenland glacier to recover the oldest plant DNA on record. The planet was far warmer hundreds of thousands of years ago than is generally believed. DNA of trees, plants and insects including butterflies and spiders from beneath the southern Greenland glacier was estimated to date to 450,000 to 900,000 years ago, according to the remnants retrieved from this long-vanished boreal forest. That contrasts sharply with the prevailing view that a lush forest of this kind could only have existed in Greenland as recently as 2.4 million years ago, according to a summary of the study, which is published in the journal Science. “The samples suggest the temperature probably reached 50 degrees F in the summer and  1 F in the winter.  What we've learned is that this part of the world was significantly warmer than most people thought.”

This whole global warming thing is just another way for people like Al Gore (did I mention he invented the internet?) to get his mug on everything and become some sort of an expert on something, since he has nothing else left.

It is another way for some politicians to be able to state their cases for new taxes on the American people, which mark my word they will try to do with pressure from Gore and his environmental wacko friends.

Give me 70 degrees in January and I will be one happy camper.
